Laparoscopic surgery is a specialized surgical technology which is also known as minimally invasive surgery. In this surgical procedure two or three small incisions of length 1 to 2 cms are only required as against a long incision of size 6 to 8 inches required in a traditional open surgery. Through one of the small incisions a laparoscope is inserted into that part of the body where the operation is to be carried out. Laparoscope is an instrument in which a camera with a light source is connected to one end of a long tube the other end of which is connected to a monitor which is placed before the surgeon who is conducting the surgery. With the help of the video camera inserted to the body of the patient, the surgeon is able to view enlarged video of the internal parts and the operation that he is carrying out.
Through other small incisions miniature instruments specially designed for the purpose of the operation are inserted. The controls of these instruments is in the hands of the surgeon. Viewing the body parts and the instruments through the monitor surgeon carries out the surgery remotely controlling the surgical instruments.
The expertise of the surgeon in doing laparoscopic surgery plays a crucial role in the success of laparoscopic surgeries. Introduction of new laparoscopic devices named hand access devices have made it possible that even surgeries like whipple operation, distal pancreatectomy, liver resection etc. can be done as laparoscopic surgery. In our hospital laparoscopic surgeries in all the above categories have been carried out successfully.
Da Vinci system is a new system which consists of a high definition 3 D vision system with two joysticks like controls which is in the hands of the surgeon. Da Vinici system also makes use of robotics technology in surgical procedures. We, at Guru multispecialty hospital equipped with Da Vinci system, proudly announce that we are capable of performing all the following laparoscopic surgeries.
Lap Assisted Abdomino Perineal Resection for Ca rectum
Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy for Ca cervix and Ca endometrium
